Director/Instructional Administrator

Message from the director

Welcome to AVTEC, we are happy you are here! This experience can be one of the most challenging , exciting, and rewarding times of your life and this handbook is your guide to success.

Our mission at AVTEC is to expand employment opportunities for Alaskans by preparing students (you) with career and technical skills required for success in the Alaska workplace. We accomplish this mission with skilled instructors, well versed in the needs of the industry to prepare students for the workforce and a dedicated and capable staff whose services are aimed to enhance and support the learning process.

While at AVTEC you will attend class every day, all day, and spend the bulk of your time in the lab with your hands on the equipment and learning the skills needed in the career field you have selected. As a member of the AVTEC community, I encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity both in and outside your training day to learn and prepare yourself for your future.

Your most important responsibility at AVTEC is to work hard and excel at your chosen field of study, but I encourage you to go outdoors and into the community to experience the activities available in Seward. Take time to enjoy the dormitory game rooms, lounge areas, and fitness center. These are places for you to get to know your fellow students and relax after a long day in training.

This handbook provides you with the information you need to succeed as a student here. Please take some time to read through it and ask questions. A thorough understanding of all that is available to you will allow you to fully enjoy your time at AVTEC.

I look forward to seeing you on campus.

All the best,

Cathy LeCompte

Director
